POINT shines in Greece at the Panhellenic Conference on precision medicine for treatment of infections

Highlighing the importance of biomarker development in combatting infections and fostering collaboration

POINT had the honour to be featured in the Panhellenic Conference on “Precision Medicine in the Treatment of Infections” held in Greece from the 4th until the 6th of October.

Claus Desler, POINT’s coordinator from UCPH, presented the project and gave a detailed overview of the innovative research carried on by the highly specialized consortium. Ηis presentation, entitled “The need to develop biomarkers: the POINT project”, was received with great interest and enthusiasm by the audience.

This conference brought together leading experts from the fields of infectious diseases, genomics, and personalized medicine. Ιt was also an excellent opportunity for the coordinators of two European projects – POINT and HOMI-LUNG – to meet, discuss common scientific topics, and exchange views.

The event highlighted cutting-edge advancements in the use of precision medicine to combat infectious diseases, particularly by tailoring treatments to individual patient profiles based on genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors.

Key discussions revolved around the role of genomics in identifying resistant pathogens, the importance of rapid diagnostic tools, and how personalized therapies can improve patient outcomes while minimizing antibiotic resistance. The conference was excellently received, fostering collaborations and offering valuable insights for future medical practice in Europe.
